A "Ciencia en Tus Manos" Initiative
Desde los zapatos de un Boricua in STEM" is a live-streamed talk series created to highlight the work and achievements of Puerto Rican STEM professionals while inspiring Puerto Rican youth to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Through engaging conversations with over 20 professionals, the series showcases their journeys, challenges, and contributions to their fields. By providing relatable role models and fostering a sense of community.
My role and impact
I led the development and implementation of Desde los Zapatos de un Boricua in STEM, a live-streamed talk series designed to highlight the contributions of Puerto Rican STEM professionals and inspire Puerto Rican youth to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. I initially conceptualized and launched the program, later collaborating with the Director of Communications to refine and rebrand the initiative, ensuring a strategic focus on key thematic areas. My responsibilities included identifying and engaging distinguished Puerto Rican STEM professionals, coordinating their participation, developing structured interview scripts, and hosting live sessions to facilitate insightful discussions. Through this initiative, I contributed to fostering a strong community of emerging STEM talent, enhancing representation, and empowering the next generation of Puerto Rican innovators.
